About

30+ years of experience managing large computer platforms, data centers, Unix/Linux System Adminstration and Oracle databases.
I like working with set targets, I can autonomously manage given responsibilites and train people. I can also manage budgets, teams, along with contacting customers and managers of other departments - often not very technical.

I am adaptable, pro-active, a self-starter, and friendly. I like to devote the proper attention to details that make the difference in projects.
My natural sociability helps me quickly integrate myself into any environment and work well with teams in harmony.

A curious lover of challenges, I always strive to comprehend the engine of the things and intervene to improve and automate, mostly conceiving new creative solutions, a trait that, amongst colleagues, has earned me the nickname script-man: if repeating an operation more than twice is necessary, then I start a script development!

In recent years I have focused specifically on computer training, using my diverse experiences as an advantage to share and pass down the acquired knowledge with success.

During the years I organized and held Computer & English courses as a free service for students and adults. Currently I am volunteering as an English interpreter and translator at church meetings for foreigners and non-Italian speakers.

Work

This is a picture from one of my job experiences.
Here I am with IBM specialized technicians during one of the several missions held at the Sweden ESA site (European Space Agency, Kiruna). The goal of that mission was to install the then new IBM platforms (cluster nodes & storage libraries) to increase the processing power of the data downloaded from satellite Envisat-1, received on the earth directly from the antenna visible in the background.

Well, please abstain from comments on my hair! :D
Here I was in one of the many data centers of a big company investigating some of the logs of a server to understand why it wasn't remotely reachable from my comfortable working seat.
Yes, it was Solaris, that blasted OS! ;)
